Roger Jenkins

Roger Jenkins - BA. LLB Attorney, Conveyancer and Notary Public

Roger was admitted as an attorney in 1989 and as a conveyancer and notary public shortly thereafter.

His areas of expertise include; commercial and property law including property development, related contracts, sectional title and general arbitrations, notarial co-habitation agreements and ante nuptial contracts, trusts and estate planning.

Roger heads the firm's conveyancing and deceased estates departments.

Roger has been active in the Durban Chamber of Commerce where he was a Vice Chairman of the Western Area and representative on the Board of Management.  He has also served as a Commissioner of the Small Claims Court and Chairman of the Pinetown Legal Circle.

He believes that the practice's strengths lie in a logical and practical approach to law with every effort being made to resolve disputes in a speedy and uncomplicated manner but without neglecting attention to detail.  If the firm is unable to assist then you will be referred to experts who can.

Derek Wright

Derek Wright - BA LLB Attorney

Derek was admitted as an attorney in 1990.  He heads the firm's litigation department and has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial litigation.  

In his experience, a good litigator requires meticulous preparation and an eye for the finest detail.  His approach is to leave nothing to chance in order to effect the best possible outcome.

In addition, Derek runs the commercial law department, dealing with all legal business requirements.  During his career, he has assisted many businesses to grow from small entities into sound and profitable companies built on strong legal foundations.

Derek also has a keen interest and extensive knowledge of sports law.  He is currently one of the few sports law practitioners in KwaZulu-Natal and has represented international sportsmen and sports agencies.

Derek has also served as a Commissioner of the Small Claims Court and is a past Chairman and Secretary of the Pinetown Legal Circle.

Derek is a keen golfer and mountain biker.

Mahomed Essack

Mahomed Essack - B.Comm LLB Dip.ChPr (UKZN)

Mahomed graduated from the University of Durban- Westville in 1990 with a B. Com Degree and in 1992 with an LL.B Degree. He was admitted as an attorney in 1994.  Mahomed received a Diploma in Law (Child Care and Protection) in 2008 from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Mahomed specializes in family law and in particular issues relating to children and the law.  His field of expertise includes inter-alia, divorce, primary residence disputes, assisting fathers of children born out of wedlock with contact and related issues, domestic violence, adoptions and assisting children in conflict with the law. Mahomed recognizes the emotional trauma that may be associated with matters related to family law and deals with such matters with understanding and sensitivity.    

Mahomed’s field of expertise also includes general civil litigation in the District, Regional and High Courts.

Mahomed has received extensive training in mediation and is accredited locally and internationally by the ADR Group (UK). Mahomed specializes in family, civil, commercial, community based and sports mediation. Mahomed is a member of the Faculty of Mediation of the Law Society of South Africa and is a presenter in the training programs conducted by the Law Society of South Africa.

Mahomed is also a presenter in Legal Education and Development seminars and workshops for the Law Society of South Africa on topics ranging from Appropriate Dispute Resolution, Strategic Management, Human Resource Management and High Court Practice.

Mahomed is married to Ruwaida and has two children, Abdullah and Aaminah, and much of his spare time is spent outdoors with his family.

Nishi Kallichurum

Nishi Kallichurum - LLB (UDW)

Nishi Kallichurum commenced employment with Essack & Hansa as a candidate attorney.  When the practices of Essack & Hansa and King & Associates merged, Nishi continued her articles with the then newly formed King-Essack & Associates Incorporated.  She was admitted as an attorney on the 1st of September 2003 and appointed as a director on 1st July 2007.

She specialises in litigation out of both the Magistrates' Court and High Court.  She acts as a quick and efficient agent for attorneys practising outside the Pinetown jurisdiction.  Apart from the aforementioned, her other fields of expertise include, but are not limited to, divorce, debt collection, motor vehicle accident claims and commercial law.

When she is not in the court room, Nishi spends her time getting in touch with nature and its wonders.


Ismail Vahed

Ismail Mohamed Vahed – LLB Attorney

Ismail obtained his LLB degree through the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2010 and joined the firm as a Candidate Attorney in March 2013. He was admitted as an Attorney in June 2013.

Ismail is a Professional Assistant in the litigation department.

His areas of expertise include general commercial litigation in the High, Regional and Magistrates Courts, construction law arbitrations, drafting commercial contracts, commercial and residential evictions, personal injury and medical negligence claims.

Ismail is a keen sportsman and enjoys watching and playing soccer in his spare time.

Raeesa Gaffoor

Raeesa Gaffoor LLB (Unisa)

Raeesa is an admitted Attorney.  She graduated from Unisa with a LLB degree whilst employed at King-Essack & Associates Inc.  She went on to serve her articles at King-Essack & Associates Inc.  She has many years of conveyancing experience including sectional title, deceased estates , property related and commercial agreements.Raeesa is married to Bilal and has two children, Adila and Aalia.  She enjoys spending her spare time with her family.

Pratiksha Narsai

Pratiksha Narsai LLB (UKZN)

Pratiksha was admitted as an attorney in 2009 and joined King-Essack & Associates Inc. in 2013.

Pratiksha has experience in various areas of the law including deceased estates, collections, litigation and commercial law although her forte lies in conveyancing.

Her belief is that with hard work, determination and perseverance any goal is achievable.

Pratiksha spends her spare time reading.
